70 Years of Enduring Journey with the Global Lifting IndustryHSC CRANES – short for Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Cranes Co., Ltd. – is the culmination of two Japanese industrial icons: Sumitomo and Hitachi. Since 1949, both corporations have laid the foundation for the crawler crane manufacturing industry in Japan, committed to delivering lifting equipment that is not only powerful but also extremely safe and reliable.

1. Strategic Partnership Phase (2001–2017)The year 2001 marked a significant turning point when Sumitomo and Hitachi collaborated to establish a joint venture specializing in crawler crane manufacturing, named Hitachi Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Crane Co., Ltd. This joint venture was formed to combine technological and manufacturing strengths to conquer the global market. During the period from 2002 to 2017, HSC Cranes continuously developed prominent product lines such as SCX700, SCX800, SCX2000, and SCX3500-3, highly acclaimed not only in Japan but also in key markets across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Notably, the SCX1200-3 series was honored with the Good Design Award, embodying a philosophy that combines high operational performance with refined industrial aesthetics.

2. Brand Repositioning – A Milestone of Growth (2018 – Present)In 2018, the company officially changed its name to Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Cranes Co., Ltd. (HSC CRANES), simultaneously launching a new logo and brand identity with the ambition to expand globally. The spirit of “Made in Japan – Built for the World” is affirmed through steady advancements. HSC CRANES expanded its operational network by establishing a European office in the Netherlands in 2019, enhancing technical and after-sales services for customers. Concurrently, the company introduced the SCX-3 generation of cranes with smart control technology, fuel efficiency, and environmental friendliness.

By 2022, Sumitomo Heavy Industries had officially acquired full ownership of the company, making HSC CRANES a crucial strategic arm within the industrial ecosystem of the Sumitomo Group – one of Japan’s oldest zaibatsu.

3. HSC CRANES Today – Safety as the Guiding PrincipleBased on the philosophy “Even a single lift – is a lifelong responsibility,” HSC CRANES continuously innovates technology, enhances ease of operation and convenient maintenance, while ensuring superior safety standards.
