OVERVIEW

Established on May 7, 1955, the Naval Force is the core force in the mission to protect sovereignty, rights of sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity over the seas and islands of Vietnam, and to build a national defense posture for the entire population at sea; tasked with managing and firmly protecting the sea and island areas under national sovereignty, ready to fight, independently or in coordination, to defeat invading attacks from the sea; maintaining security and order, combating all acts of violating sovereignty, rights of sovereignty, jurisdiction, and national interests of Vietnam at sea; participating in disaster prevention and control, search and rescue; protecting economic activities at sea and other activities in the sea and island areas according to the provisions of Vietnamese law and international law.
