Representatives from Thang Long Project Management Board and Cuu Long Corporation for Investment, Development and Project Management of Infrastructure (CIPM) (Ministry of Transport) announced that all documentation has been completed and contractors have been selected to commence two projects for the renovation and upgrade of runways and taxiways at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat International Airports by the end of June 2020.In late May 2020, the Prime Minister issued a document agreeing for the Ministry of Transport to implement two projects to upgrade the Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airport runways through direct appointment of contractors (without competitive bidding), covering all stages from project preparation, survey, design, and construction to the completion and operationalization of the works, in accordance with legal regulations for implementation.It is known that, as of this time, for the Noi Bai airport runway and taxiway upgrade project, managed by Thang Long Project Management Board, the construction contractor consortium has been identified as: Airport Construction Corporation (ACC) – Vietnam Construction Investment Development Joint Stock Company (VINADIC) – Truong Son Construction Corporation. The design consultancy consortium is: Transport Engineering Design Inc. (TEDI) – Airport Design and Construction Consultancy Company (ADCC). The supervision consultancy contractor is: CONINCO Technologies, Equipment and Construction Inspection Joint Stock Company (CONINCO).For the Tan Son Nhat airport runway and taxiway renovation and upgrade project (managed by CIPM), the construction contractor consortium has also been identified, including: CIENCO4 Group – Airport Construction Corporation (ACC) – Company 647. The design consultancy contractor: Transport Engineering Design Inc. (TEDI) – Airport Design and Construction Consultancy Company (ADCC). The supervision consultancy contractor is the consortium of Southern Institute of Transport Science and Technology (ITSTS) and Southern Transport Engineering Design Joint Stock Company (TEDI South).According to the approval decision by the Ministry of Transport, the Noi Bai International Airport runway and taxiway renovation and upgrade project has a total investment of 2,031.6 billion VND. The project will renovate and upgrade runways 11L/29R (1A) and 11R/29L (1B); construct new rapid exit taxiways S3A, S5B, S6B; renovate and upgrade existing taxiways (S1, S1A, S2, S3, S4, S5, S5A, S6, S7); and construct air traffic control facilities, signal lights, runway markings, etc.Similarly, the Tan Son Nhat International Airport runway and taxiway renovation and upgrade project has a total investment of 2,015.3 billion VND, with the objective of renovating and upgrading runway 25R/07L and adjusting the slope into connecting taxiways W6, W4, NS1, E1; constructing new rapid exit taxiways (W2A, W4A) and parallel taxiway (W11A); constructing, renovating, and upgrading connecting taxiway sections (N1, W3, W5, W5A, W7, W9); and constructing air traffic control facilities, signal lights, etc.
